Cymmer Fire Station recently received a new outdoor wellbeing shed thanks to a Green Infrastructure Project in conjunction with Neath Port Talbot Council.
Supporting mental health and wellbeing is an important part of creating a positive working environment, and this new wellbeing area provides the crew at Cymmer Fire Station with a welcoming place to relax, connect with colleagues and take time away from the demands of operational duties.
Built with sustainability in mind, the shed features a living wall that can be naturally irrigated using rainwater collected from the roof. Inside the shed there is a comfortable space for the crew to unwind, complete with a sofa and BBQ (for use outside), both kindly donated to help create an inviting area for social connection and wellbeing.
Stuart Furnell, Watch Manager at Cymmer Fire Station said:
“This is much more than a shed. It’s a place where we can switch off, support one another and prioritise our wellbeing. We’d like to thank Neath Port Talbot Council and all those who donated their time and resources to make it happen.”
The new facility reflects the importance of looking after both physical and mental health and will provide Cymmer Fire Station crews with a dedicated space to recharge, connect and enjoy the benefits of the outdoors!
