On Tuesday, 4th August, members of Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) Southern Division Community Safety team joined forces with Ospreys in the Community, South Wales Police, and Swansea Council Road Safety to deliver an engaging and interactive day for 40 young people aged 16 to 20 at Llandarcy Academy of Sport.
The morning session focused on road safety, featuring the Olivia Story, the Fatal 5 presentation, and VR goggles, highlighting the importance of making safe choices on our roads.
In the afternoon, participants explored career opportunities within the emergency services and took part in a range of practical activities, including throwline demonstrations, go-karts, beer goggles, and a mini firefighter challenge, where they tested themselves against the clock by running out a hose and completing a dummy drag!
The day also gave students the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the different roles within each organisation, ask questions, and learn more about the responsibilities and career pathways available in the emergency services and partner agencies.
