As Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service marks 30 years of service to communities across the area, we are proud to celebrate the people who have shaped the Service’s past, strengthen its present, and inspire its future.
We’re delighted to share some fantastic news from Tenby Fire Station, where Watch Manager Jeremy Lees of Tenby Fire Station - known to many as Jez - has recently been recognised for his ‘Outstanding Service to the Community’. Jeremy was presented with a special award by the High Sheriff of Dyfed in recognition of his long-standing commitment and invaluable contribution to the Fire Service across Pembrokeshire.

Jeremy began his firefighting career at Tenby Fire Station in 1992, just a few years before the formation of Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service in 1996. Over more than three decades, his career has mirrored the evolution of the Service itself, from local brigade roots to a modern, unified organisation focused on prevention, protection and response.
Through hard work, dedication and a genuine passion for helping others, Jeremy progressed through the ranks and now proudly serves as the Watch Manager at the station where his career began. With an incredible 34 years of service, he has made a lasting impact not only on his colleagues, but also on the wider Tenby community earning huge respect for his leadership, professionalism and commitment to public service.
As we celebrate this milestone anniversary, Jeremy’s achievement is a powerful reminder that the strength of the Service lies in its people.
Chief Fire Officer, Craig Flannery, said:
“I have known Jeremy for 20 years and am absolutely thrilled that he has been recognised in this way by the High Sheriff for his outstanding service to the community. Jeremy’s dedication and enthusiasm, whether through fund raising events, Tenby Carnival attendance, car washes or open days, is the epitome of a modern Fire Service staff member and I wish him well in all future endeavours.”
Well done, Jeremy - this is an achievement to be extremely proud of, we’re incredibly grateful for your dedication, commitment and service.
