On the evening of Thursday, December 18th, the crew at Welshpool Fire Station held their 32nd Annual Charity Carol Service at Neuadd Maldwyn in Welshpool.
Now in its 32nd year, the service brings together Firefighters and the local community for an evening of carols and readings to celebrate the festive season.
This year’s event took place at Neuadd Maldwyn, a Grade II listed building recently transformed by ClwydAlyn into independent living apartments for older people. As well as strengthening links between Welshpool Firefighters and both the community and Neuadd Maldwyn residents, the service also helped raise funds for the Fire Fighters Charity. The Fire Fighters Charity offers lifelong support to the mental, physical and social wellbeing of serving and retired Firefighters, their families, and other Fire and Rescue Service personnel.
Attending the carol service was Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service’s Chief Fire Officer, Craig Flannery, who said:
“This evening’s carol service was a truly special occasion for everyone involved. Bringing together our firefighters, the residents of Neuadd Maldwyn and the wider Welshpool community has created a warm and uplifting atmosphere that reflects the very best of our Fire and Rescue Service.
Events such as the Welshpool Charity Carol Service are a reminder of the strong bonds we share and the incredible support that surrounds our Service.”
Watch Manager Brendan Mcwhinnie, who organised the event, said:
“I would like to thank the Station personnel for their support in organising what is an event that is very much part of the Welshpool community’s Christmas celebrations.
My thanks also go to the residents of Neuadd Maldwyn and the community of Welshpool for their support in making this year’s event such a success.”
Thank you to the crew at Welshpool Fire Station and to everyone in the local community who contributed to making this a memorable and meaningful occasion.
