The crew at Builth Wells Fire Station has recently welcomed some new recruits – a collection of handmade teddy bears!

Firefighters at Builth Wells Fire Station have recently received a collection of teddy bears that have been kindly been made and donated by the Friends of Healthcare in Builth Wells and District.

The teddies, known as Trauma Teddies, will be kept on fire engines and given to children and young people involved in incidents that Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) attends.  These incidents can often be overwhelming and frightening, and are unfamiliar experiences, the teddies distributed by MAWWFRS crews will hopefully bring some comfort to children and young people involved and alleviate any distress when possible.

Crews from across MAWWFRS’s service area often receive donations of Trauma Teddies, which is one example of the continued support MAWWFRS receives from the communities it serves.

MAWWFRS is very grateful to the generous donation of teddies by the Friends of Healthcare in Builth Wells and District, with special thanks to Mrs Mary Jenkins, Mrs Margaret Richards and the late Mrs Joyce Davies.
